“Be
careful about reading health books, you may die of a misprint.”
- Mark Twain (1835-1910) |
How
many more fad diets are going to be invented? What is the shelf life
of a fad diet? They come and go with the tide. How about a diet that
has been around for roughly four million years? How about a diet where
all you do is listen to your mother—Mother Nature. At Mama Nature’s
Restaurant, the menu does not include food in a box, food that clogs
your arteries, or food that comes with a pill to take so that you can
digest it. Mama only serves natural, wholesome food—she knows
what is best for you. By the way, she serves much more than tofu and
sprouts.
This book is about reaching your natural health potential without sacrificing
your love for eating. It shows a different point of view than the multitude
of books out there regarding diet and health. The stereotype for a vegetarian/vegan
is the Birkenstock-wearing, tree-hugging, animal rights activist. While
protecting and preserving the environment and anti-cruelty to animals
are important issues, they are not the focus of this book. Eating healthy
does not have to be a political statement, it can be a personal health
decision.
The usual pro-vegan reasons are presented, as well as the opposing views.
I have also included chapters on some interesting topics such as processed
foods and food additives, genetically modified foods, how cheese is
made, and organic vs. non-organic food. After you read the material,
if you decide that you want to try a vegan diet, I offer an easy 30
day program. If you decide that you’re not interested, that’s
cool too—at least you have increased your knowledge and will be
able to understand what all the “hoopla” is about this vegan
stuff.
Whether
you want to lose weight or not, adhering to a vegan diet will eventually
transform your body into the shape that nature intended. I can guarantee
you this—you will look at food differently, you will learn something
from the experience, and no physical harm will come to you. Your lifestyle
does not have to change, but reading this book may change your life.
